Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a survival horror game. Building off the surprising breakout popularity of Five Nights at Freddy's, the sequel again casts you in the role of a security guard at a children's pizza parlor. The seemingly innocuous restaurant is home to a wealth of dark secrets which are gradually revealed over the course of the game. Each night the seemingly friendly animatronic creatures that perform at the pizzeria come to life looking for blood, and your primary means of defending yourself is an array of cameras and access to automatic lighting and security doors.

The gameplay is much the same as the original, emphasizing simple gameplay that denies the player agency in pursuit of crippling horror. But it also brings a progression of new features to the table. A golden mask resembling the trademark villain Freddy provides you with protection from the monsters, and a music box offers a reprieve from the new Puppet monster. You'll need these tools too, as new complications are added to the new formula. Additional rooms mean that there's more space to monitor, and a whole host of seven new creatures stalk the halls of Freddie Fazbear's Pizza. New mini-games that play when you die round out the features.
