Asteroids by Gimer is an updated version of the original video game by the same name. Asteroids has been around for almost 40 years, and it is still seen as a highly recognizable and entertaining fast game. There might be some of you who have never heard of or played Asteroids, but it is much better than it looks. The limitations of early games prevented it from being too detailed or flashy, but that rawness is what makes the game so special.

You start off with a total of four ships, which includes the ship you're piloting when you first start the game. The game is only 2D, but the sides of the screen are connected so you can fly off one side and return from the other. This proves to be vital when the game gets to the harder levels.

You fire from your ship and work to destroy the Asteroids that pollute the area. If you hit an Asteroid, you lose a life and must restart at the center of the map. Like many other arcade games, you can't 'win' Asteroids. The goal is simply to survive as long as you can while earning as many points as possible.
