Merlin Bird ID can help you identify wild birds. Aspiring bird watchers once had to rely on out of date and bulky bird watching guides to identify birds in the wild, but Merlin Bird ID, built by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology greatly simplifies the process through the use of a simple questionnaire that helps you pinpoint the species of the birds you find on your travels.
All you have to do is answer five easy questions, and Merlin Bird ID will automatically provide you with a gallery of birds that match your responses. Once you've picked the bird that matches your identification, you'll have all the information you could ask for at your fingertips. These comprehensive encyclopedic entries provide you with photos, bird calls, and information on how to better identify them in the wild. If you can manage to snap a photo of your bird, the process is even easier. Using image recognition technology, Merlin Bird ID will automatically find you the closest relative in its database.
It's a rather comprehensive resource out of the box, containing over 2,000 of the most commonly found birds, but you can further expand your catalog by downloading resource packs that are regionally specific.
