Wordalot is a free video game app that provides you with crossword puzzles that can be solved with the aid of an included image. Each image contains several items, and you can use that image to find words in the crossword board that correspond to elements in the image. If you are smart enough, you can solve the puzzle quickly using these two combined tools.

Since most crossword puzzles are meant to be complicated, each associated image is going to be particularly busy. This makes sense when you imagine that the image is essentially acting as your list of clues for the puzzle. For instance, one image might feature a small child holding a book under an umbrella in a crowded street. In general, most of the major elements in the image will have corresponding words in the puzzle.

There are more than 500 puzzles with associated pictures, and the levels are organized into packs that must be unlocked by beating all the levels in the previous pack. The game uses an in-app currency that you can purchase with real money in order to buy clues and other perks. There aren't many other ways to kill time that are this much fun.
